Kienlen Constructors recently completed Phase 1 Structural Concrete at the Missouri Botantical Garden – Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center in St. Louis, MO. Kienlen is working as a subcontractor to Alberici Constructors and providing a turnkey structural concrete and steel package for the project. The Phase 1 scope includes a deep retaining wall footing and foundation that will become part of the basement for Phase 2 in 2021. Kienlen is also performing select demolition work on the existing Linnean House to help restore the oldest continuously operated greenhouse west of the Mississippi River.
Kienlen teamed up with Hillsdale Fabricators to provide a complete steel package to the Alberici team. The design included Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS) at the exterior trellis and select elements inside Phase 2 of the structure. The Kienlen/Hillsdale/Alberici team has worked closely with the design team to fully understand the design intent of each element of the AESS trellis system. The design required precise fabrication and erection on all pieces to meet the tight tolerances of the AESS elements. We are scheduled to begin steel erection at Phase 2 in July 2020 and complete Phase 2 in 2021.
